Inside Dublin, Ireland

Dublin is hosting the ECM Spring Meeting from March 4 to 8, 2009. Miriam Kennedy, Director of the Dublin Convention Bureau, about the best locations for meetings after the meeting, complimentary whiskey and the Irish sense of warmth and welcome.

My favorite five locations....
Restaurants
- The Cellar Restaurant in The Merrion Hotel: fine dining in the splendid surroundings of a beautifully restored Georgian building.
- Ely Chq: traditional, heart warming irish food with a modern twist served in Dublin’s booming Docklands area and just beside the Convention Centre Dublin which is due to open in 2010.

Pubs
- The Mint Bar in the Westin Hotel. They serve the world’s most expensive cocktail in here but I like to pop in for a mojito and some salsa dancing on a Friday.
- The Abbey Tavern in Howth is a truly traditional Dublin pub in a gorgeous seaside location. Perfect for a pint after a walk on the pier.
- The Old Jameson Distillery put on a great show with their Shindig nights. They have everyone singing and dancing – maybe it’s the complimentary glass of whiskey!

Dublin is the ideal meeting destination, because...
Dublin effortlessly combines traditional and modern, historic and contemporary. We have some fabulously unique venues from a medieval Castle to a brewery but what really makes Dublin stand out from the crows is the world famous Irish sense of warmth and welcome!

I like most about my city...
definitely its people. You won’t find a warmer welcome, genuinely great service, dynamism and the uniquely Irish sprit of fun anywhere else in the world.
