Ghent hosts "40th IAPCO General Assembly" on February 12th to 15th, 2009. Annick Debels, Director of Gent Congres, the official CVB for Ghent and East-Flanders, about the best locations for meetings after the meeting, medieval Manhattan and authenticity.

My favorite five locations...
Restaurants:
- Domestica, www.domestica.be
- Korenlei Twee, which has a terrasse in summer, www.korenleitwee.be

Pubs:
- Café Den Turk, the oldest café in Ghent, Botermarkt
- Oeverloze Eiland, Oudburg near Patershol
- The Vintage, wine bar, Onderbergen
- Waterhuis aan de Bierkant
- Het Dreupelkot, serving 150 different Belgian gins
- Hot Club de Gand, Hoogstraat
- De Blauwe Kiosk, Kouter. A wine and oyster bar – THE place to be only on Sunday mornings!

Ghent is the ideal meeting destination, because...
Ghent combines an impressive past with a vivid present. With a range of perfect meeting facilities and hotels, it has always something to offer to the most demanding meeting planner.

Sometimes called the Medieval Manhattan, Ghent‘s reputation as one of the most important university cities in the world has been recognised by the Scientist Magazine. The presence of this young population leaves a dynamic mark on the city and surely adds to the lively atmosphere that Ghent exudes.

In Ghent there is always something happening : a festival or a concert, an exhibition or other cultural event…. Lots of trendy restaurants and hip pubs and bars offer good local gastronomy and samples of the numerous Belgian beers and gins.

I do like most about my city...
the authenticity of the city and the sense of hospitality of its citizens.
