Torino hosts the "MPI European Meetings and Events Conference" from March 1st to 3rd, 2009. Roberta Tealdi, Torino Convention Bureau, about the best locations for meetings after the meeting, Piedmontese cuisine, Alcool and the Olympic Winter Games.

I love typical Piedmontese cuisine characterized by succulent dishes such as agnolotti (pasta squares filled with meat), bollito misto (various cuts of boiled meats with sauces) a great variety of starters, cheeses and desserts. You can find the local cuisine both in elegant restaurants and in small taverns.

My favourite five locations...
Ristorante del Cambio - Inaugurated in 1757, the Ristorante del Cambio is one of the city’s historic jewels. www.thi-hotels.com/hotels/ristorante-del-cambio/restaurant.html

Ristorante 3 Galline - located in Quadrilatero Romano, an ancient downtown area with charm of yore that today has been invaded by clubs, art galleries, wine bars, restaurants and boutiques. It is famous for its menu which mixes Torinese and Piedmontese specialties with slightly creative dishes using local ingredients. www.quadrilateroromano.it/tregalline

Birrificio Torino - a “brewpub”: the Torino’s brewery with a hospitable venue for beer tasting sessions and dinner. At Birrificio Torino, BIRRA TORINO is brewed, matures and is tasted “live”! The crafted beer is available here only just few minutes walk from Piazza Castello. www.birrificiotorino.com

Alcool - It’s one of the most famous places of the Turinese nightlife. Located in front of the Po River, it’s characterised by its Lounge music, its refined atmosphere and its variety of fruit cocktails. www.alcooltorino.com

Historic cafès - my favourite is Baratti e Milano in Piazza Castello, in the heart of the city centre. You should taste the Bicerin: the traditional hot beverage made of coffee, chocolate and cream.

Torino is the ideal meeting destination, because...
it combines the right ingredients for perfect events and an enjoyable stay: a great variety of venues – cutting edge conference centres, the new Olympic venues and Baroque buildings - high quality hotels, architecture, lifestyle, cultural events and excellent cuisine.

I do like most about my city...
Its capacity to transform and change its image through the centuries without forgetting its past: at first the centre of the Duchy of Savoy, the first Italian capital in 1861, then the powerhouse of the industrial north after the Second World War and now a tourist city. Thanks to the Olympic Winter Games in 2006, Torino is now a city on the move, full of artistic and cultural ferment, urban redevelopment, revitalisation of suburbs and renovations which are outlining the new face of the metropolis. Yet it’s still a city of great traditions, custodian of a glorious historical, cultural past.
