CIBTM 2014 reflects growth in China’s meetings industry

Beijing. CIBTM, China Incentive, Business Travel & Meetings exhibition, which took place from 17-19 September at the China National Convention Centre (CNCC) Beijing, has announced that 4,088 visitors including Hosted Buyers attended the event - an increase of 28% of international Hosted Buyers and 21% in the number of countries represented by international exhibitors.

With CIBTM attracting a growing number of international MICE attendees from China, these figures – together with the reported high level of satisfaction in the quality of the meetings that took place – highlight the continued growth of the meetings and events industry across China.

Jacqui Timmins, Exhibition Director CIBTM and AIME, Reed Travel Exhibitions, comments: “We are delighted with the level of business which has been achieved this year and we have received a great deal of positive feedback so far from our exhibitors. This feedback highlights how effective the CIBTM Hosted Buyer programme is in generating business for buyers and suppliers from across the globe.”

These included Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism, Hangzhou Tourism Commission, Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, Madrid Convention Bureau, South Africa Tourism, Tourism New Zealand, Visit Berlin and many more.

Leticia Gonzalez, International Sales Manager of Intercontinental Berlin, commented: “This is the first time we are exhibiting at CIBTM and we have been delighted with the response. It is perfectly organised, with a good selection of Hosted Buyers. This event has been the best place for us to promote the specific products and services customised for our Chinese guests. Next year, this trade show is a must again!”

This year’s Knowledge Programme featured a number of pioneering speakers through partnerships with some of the world’s leading industry associations including MPI, SITE, ASAE, ICCA and IAEE.  CIBTM 2014 delivered a 22% increase in the number of topical sessions within the Programme and 1021 delegates attended to gain insight and learn of industry trends and best practice.

Jacqui Timmins concludes “The success of CIBTM 2014 shows that the event continues to be one of the leading trade shows for meetings and events organisers, venue providers and incentive and business travel services in China and Asia and as a team, we are committed to developing the show further through strategic partnerships and new innovations to ensure that the show continues to catalyze an already booming industry in China.”
