Participation wanted. „Put on your apron, take your knife into the hand and start cooking…“ – it will be for a group of IMEX representatives who together with colleagues from the international MICE industry will be taking part in a charity cooking event for the shelter home “Lichtblick” on May, 20th a day prior to IMEX. This event belongs to the “IMEX giving-back programme” that supports local charities in the cities and regions where IMEX takes place.
The Franciscan Sister Sigrid Ehrlich, initiator of the German registered non-profit association “Lichtblick aktiv Schwester Sigrid e.V.” and founder of the hostel for homeless people “Haus Lichtblick”, has for more than two decades devoted her life and energy to helping the poor and suffering, neglected people at the rim of society, jobless and homeless people, sick and dependent upon the help and good advice of others.
Sister Sigrid’s service goes far beyond the mission of her religious community and above all she ignores any confessional borders. For over 25 years she has visited homeless people in railway stations and under bridges, taken care of their wounds without any fear of infection. Her profound knowledge of and experience in nursing contributes to the quality of her service.
IMEX supports the hostel „Lichtblick“ since 2012 and will also do so in the future. The project partner for this event will be the Sheraton Frankfurt Congress Hotel who will sponsor the fresh ingredients for the lunch, a professional cook as well as beautiful table decoration. But not only will they cook, the charity group will also – with the help of the hotel partner – serve the lunch to the “Lichtblick people” and then have lunch together with them.
“Yummy and healthy food, nicely decorated tables and being treated like being in a luxurious hotel – this event will be something very special for our people who live here in our home” says Sister Sigrid. “We are really looking forward to this special event and I strongly believe that also the IMEX group will have a very significant and meaningful experience.”
