IGLTA 2024: Record-Breaking LGBTQ+ Travel Event in Osaka

The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA) held its 41st Annual Global Convention in Osaka, Japan, from October 23–26, 2024. Hosted at the Swissôtel Nankai Osaka, the event brought together 575 attendees from 51 countries and regions, the highest level of international representation in the event’s history. This marks the largest IGLTA convention ever held outside North America and underscores the growing significance of LGBTQ+ travel in the Asia-Pacific region.

Convention Features and Key Outcomes

The convention program included a Buyer/Supplier Marketplace, keynote presentations on industry trends, and workshops covering topics such as inclusive travel strategies and emerging markets. Networking events, including the opening reception at Landmark Square Osaka and the Voyage Fundraiser at Sumiyoshi Taisha, offered cultural and professional engagement opportunities. The event concluded with a handover ceremony, where Osaka transferred hosting responsibilities to Palm Springs, California, the site of the 2025 convention.
