The Luxembourg Society for Vascular Surgery (SLCV.lu) secured the bid with strong support from the Luxembourg Convention Bureau (LCB). Dr. Dirk Grotemeyer, President of SLCV.lu, stated: „Each year, the ESVS Annual Meeting serves as a vital platform for advancing knowledge, exchanging best practices, and showcasing innovation in the treatment of vascular diseases.“ He noted that the journey from the initial idea in 2018 to the successful bid for 2028 has been a long one.
Strategic Importance for Luxembourg’s Healthcare Sector
Hosting the ESVS meeting aligns with Luxembourg’s strategy to establish itself as a hub for biomedical research and health technologies. The country boasts renowned research institutions such as the Luxembourg Institute of Health and the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine. Maurice Bauer, President of the Luxembourg Convention Bureau, emphasized: „Hosting the ESVS Annual Meeting will not only showcase the country’s medical expertise but also strengthen its position as a hub for cutting-edge research and clinical excellence in vascular medicine.“
Luxembourg joins the roster of host cities following Kraków (2024), Istanbul (2025), Belgrade (2026), and Lisbon (2027), marking its place on the European stage for this significant medical conference.
