As the seat of Canada’s federal government and a G7 capital, the city brings together decision-makers from defence, diplomacy, public safety, technology and regulation. It is also home to universities, international missions, technology firms and SMEs working across cybersecurity, aerospace, defence, artificial intelligence and advanced communications. This ecosystem gives event organisers direct access to organisations and experts involved in shaping Canada’s security agenda.
Canadas capital connects defence, cybersecurity and innovation for international events
Recent events have highlighted the city’s role in these sectors. Ottawa Innovation Week in June 2026 brought together founders, researchers, investors and business leaders from areas including AI and defence. CANSEC returned to the city in May with representatives from government, industry and international delegations. In December, the National Capital Region will host INCYBER Forum Canada, focusing on cybersecurity, AI safety and digital resilience. The city’s meetings infrastructure, bilingual environment and compact downtown area complement this sector expertise. Ottawa Unlimited, Ottawa Tourism, Invest Ottawa and the Ottawa Board of Trade are also working together to strengthen the destination’s profile among national and international event organisers.
