The 2026 sales mission began in Hyderabad on 6 July and continues with stops in Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai, Tiruchirappalli and Chennai. Across the seven cities, PCEB is engaging with more than 400 travel agents, corporate buyers, event planners and tourism stakeholders. Organised in collaboration with IndiGo Airline, the initiative aims to strengthen Penang’s position in one of its six priority markets while highlighting the role of improved air connectivity in supporting business events, incentive travel, weddings and leisure tourism.
India remains a strategic market for Penang
According to PCEB, India continues to offer strong growth potential across meetings, incentives, corporate events and group travel. The bureau expects the mission to generate new business opportunities, strengthen long-term partnerships and increase awareness of Penang’s business events infrastructure. PCEB Chief Executive Officer Ashwin Gunasekeran said the programme provides an opportunity to engage directly with key decision-makers while gaining insight into market demand. He also highlighted upcoming hotel developments that will expand Penang’s accommodation capacity and support larger international events. The sales mission also aligns with the objectives of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 by promoting the destination to international buyers and encouraging additional visitor arrivals from the Indian market.
