The longtime Hyatt executive will take the helm of the tourism organization on March 24, 2024. With 30 years of hospitality experience, he is set to strengthen San Diego’s position as a world-class destination.
Experienced Hotel Executive to Lead Tourism Organization
Following a four-month national search, Daniel Kuperschmid was selected for the position. He previously served as Vice President Global Asset Management at Hyatt Hotels Corp., managing a portfolio of 42 hotels. His career began as a sales manager at Hyatt New Orleans, advancing through various leadership positions in sales and marketing. From 2018 to 2024, he led the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego as Area Vice President and General Manager, overseeing eight hotels in the Southern California market.
Long-Standing Connection to SDTA
Kuperschmid is already well-versed with the SDTA, having served as Board Chair from 2019 to 2023, helping guide San Diego’s tourism community through the pandemic. He also served on the advisory committee for the San Diego Convention Center expansion and on the San Diego Tourism Marketing District Board.
