At the anniversary gala on 23 September in Kuching, Sarawak Premier Abang Johari highlighted the role of conferences, conventions, exhibitions and corporate events in supporting the state’s development priorities under the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030. He said business events can contribute to knowledge exchange, international partnerships, investment and opportunities for local institutions and talent.

Sarawak BEACON to strengthen data-driven business events development

BESarawak is developing the Sarawak Business Events Analytics and Collaboration Network, known as Sarawak BEACON, to bring together data on accommodation, events, venues, transportation, the industry supply chain and healthcare. The system is intended to provide government and industry stakeholders with insights into Sarawak’s business events capacity and development needs. To advance the project, BESarawak has signed a Memorandum of Collaboration with the Sarawak Artificial Intelligence Centre, combining the organisation’s business events expertise with SAIC’s technological capabilities.
