Recent findings from The Eastside Rooms show that financial travel incentives, such as free public transport or subsidised taxi rates, are increasingly pivotal in attracting conference organisers and their delegates. The survey results reveal that 59% of PCOs see these incentives as a major consideration, with 20% stating they „always“ impact destination choice and 39% noting they affect decisions „most of the time.“ Only 7% of respondents indicated no influence from such incentives.

Diverging Travel Expectations Between Organisers and Delegates

The survey also highlighted discrepancies in travel preferences between PCOs and attendees. While 64% of organisers believe attendees prefer travel involving one transfer or less, 64% of attendees are open to two transfers, with 11% willing to accept three. Additionally, only 24% of organisers consider travel times exceeding four hours acceptable, compared to 42% of attendees who are comfortable with up to six hours and 11% willing to travel up to eight hours for domestic events.
