VCET Appoints Andrew Fairley AM and Glenn Carmody

The Victorian Convention and Event Trust has appointed Andrew Fairley AM and Glenn Carmody as new members of the Trust. The appointments were announced on 22 January 2026.

Andrew Fairley AM has held senior roles across the tourism and public sectors, including Director of Tourism Victoria and Deputy Chair of Tourism Australia. He has also served as Chair of Parks Victoria and Zoos Victoria and as a Director of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority. Fairley is a commercial and equity lawyer and Chair of Qualitas Limited, an ASX listed funds manager with more than 10.5 billion US dollars in assets under management. He is also a Director of Goulburn Valley Water and holds leadership roles in philanthropic organisations.

Governance and Financial Expertise Added to Victorian Convention and Event Trust

Glenn Carmody brings more than 35 years of experience with EY, including serving as Oceania Managing Partner for Assurance. His background includes governance, financial reporting and strategic growth. He has been a Director of the Victoria Racing Club for eight years and Honorary Treasurer for six years. Carmody also serves as Chair of the Foundation for Very Special Kids.

The appointments come ahead of the planned opening of VCET’s second venue, Nyaal Banyul, in mid 2026. Steve Dimopoulos, the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, and VCET Chair The Hon. John Brumby AO confirmed the appointments. The additions are intended to broaden the governance, financial and tourism expertise represented on the Trust.
