The anniversary edition of the TourMIS Workshop & International Seminar brought together tourism managers, researchers, and industry leaders for two days of exchange and learning. Since its creation in 2000, TourMIS has evolved into a key platform for evidence-based strategies in tourism, with this year’s programme focusing on community well-being, inclusivity, and the wider social value of travel.

Focus on collaboration and social impact

The two-day programme combined a users’ workshop on TourMIS tools for market analysis and benchmarking with an international seminar curated by City Destinations Alliance. Sessions explored frameworks for measuring social returns, practical examples of regenerative tourism, and strategies for involving residents in shaping tourism policies. Alongside celebrating 25 years of TourMIS as a data platform, the workshop reaffirmed the long-standing partnership between CityDNA, ETC, and Modul University Vienna, supported by the Austrian National Tourist Office and the Vienna Tourist Board. The next TourMIS Workshop & International Seminar will return to Vienna on September 10-11, 2026
