VisitBritain. One of the UK’s leading conference and event venues, ACC Liverpool, is giving support to VisitBritain and the Business Visits and Events Partnership (BVEP) during National Meetings & Events Week from 18 to 24 October 2010.  The BVEP has published a manifesto which defines the 10 reasons why meetings and events are important to the UK economy.  The paper goes on to expound why the government should help promote this sector of Britain’s tourism industry with a view to the UK becoming a primary destination choice and an international hub for all sectors of the global events industry. ACC Liverpool, home to BT Convention Centre and Echo Arena which recently hosted the first of its political conferences, used the Liberal Democrat Autumn Conference to ally ministerial support for the manifesto.

The Liberal Democrat conference boosted the local economy by an estimated £10million and gave ACC Liverpool the ideal platform to highlight to MPs the power of the UK events sector and the importance of the BVEP manifesto.
Bob Prattey, CEO at ACC Liverpool said “the BVEP manifesto calls for governmental support for the events and meetings industry, as well as discussion around some key initiatives we are working on together as a destination. International associations, corporates and the government are rapidly seeing the benefits of not just the UK but Liverpool as their primary conference destination. It is our duty to the destination of Liverpool and the UK as a whole to continue to push this message and support the industry of which we are a key part.”
Built just over 2 years ago, ACC Liverpool has helped to bring in significant revenue to the city and local region and is now fully ingrained in the city’s emergent economy which was once based on infrastructure and maritime. ACC Liverpool is recognised as one of the key players in the conference and event industry in the UK and is supported by a wealth of awards, recognitions and brand ambassadors.
