Organised by the Liverpool City Region Destination Partnership, the forum will bring together businesses, transport providers, event organisers and accessibility specialists. They will be disussing practical approaches to improving accessibility for visitors. The 2026 edition expands into a larger conference format and takes place as the region prepares for several major international events, including the Inclusive Sport and Culture Festival 2027, the Tour de France Grand Depart 2027, the Wheelchair Basketball European Championships 2027 and UEFA Euro 2028. Discussions will focus on visitor expectations, collaborative approaches to accessibility and measures that support inclusive experiences across the region.

Accessibility and Visitor Experience Take Centre Stage

The programme includes two panel discussions examining accessibility from both strategic and operational perspectives. The session “Level Playing Fields: Ensuring Accessibility Across Events” will explore topics such as inclusive design, policy developments and accessibility standards in sport and major events. A second panel, “The Cornerstones of Success: Enhancing the Visitor Experience”, will examine the visitor journey across transport, accommodation, attractions and hospitality. Speakers include representatives from sport, tourism, accessibility and visitor experience organisations, alongside athletes and industry professionals. The forum aims to support businesses in preparing for future visitor demand while contributing to ongoing accessibility initiatives across Liverpool City Region.
