MICE-VISION Supports Sustainable and Digitally Enabled MICE Operations

Within the framework of fuTOURiSME, AFEA Congress is implementing the MICE-VISION project. The project aims to integrate sustainability and digital solutions into organizational processes and event workflows. Five coordinated activities are being carried out. These include organizational alignment with the GSTC-MICE standard, adaptation of event-level operations to the same requirements, deployment of digital tools for resource tracking and logistics management, training and awareness actions for staff and partners, and international dissemination of project outcomes through participation in a global sustainable tourism fair.

In addition, the environmental footprint of the 34th Panhellenic Pulmonology Congress, held in Athens in December 2025, was assessed. The analysis produced quantified data on carbon emissions, water consumption, and waste generation per participant in line with internationally recognized standards. Identified emissions were offset through verified carbon credits under the UN framework.
