In September 2026 The Barbican will open The Lakeside Room as a new option for mid sized events in central London. The room adds capacity and flexibility for planners seeking venues for gatherings of between 20 and 120 people. It is intended for formats including receptions, seated dinners, theatre style sessions and product launches.

Mid size event space for 20 to 120 guests

The Lakeside Room seats 80 for a dinner and 60 for theatre style layouts and can host up to 120 for a drinks reception. It is flooded with natural light and fully accessible, and catering can be delivered within the room to maintain a continuous guest experience. The space includes AV suitable for meetings, standard lighting for receptions and power provision for typical event needs, and clear wayfinding will support visitor flow. The room will operate under standard licensing to a 1am finish and background music is supported, with technical checks available for productions that require specific acoustic or sound arrangements. Availability will be Monday to Thursday and overnight holds can be arranged to allow for set up and rehearsals.
