The Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB) won the Gold M&IT Award for Best Overseas Conference Centre at the annual gala held on 3 March in London. Representatives of the Barcelona centre, on behalf of everyone on the CCIB team, thanked their clients and collaborators, as well as the authorities and public and private organisations responsible for boosting Barcelona’s international projection.
The centre won the silver award in this category in 2016 and 2008, and took bronze in 2007, 2012 and 2015. The CCIB has been rewarded on this occasion with the gold for the quality of its facilities, services and professionals. After finishing 2016 with a total of 112 events held, 537,384 participants and record growth of 19.5% in business volume (€35.6 M), the CCIB is looking to 2017 with a customer satisfaction rating of 4.5/5. Each year, the M&IT awards recognise the most significant organisations in the business tourism arena. The awards were created by Meetings & Incentive Travel, the oldest magazine in the sector. The British events industry casts its votes independently in secret.
The Barcelona International Convention Centre is one of the largest conference centres in southern Europe, with the capacity to host events with up to 15,000 delegates. The grounds offer more than 100,000 m2 of multipurpose space, including the Convention Centre and the Forum Building Auditorium.
