CIM: Shane Hannam is the new IBTM Portfolio Director and new Executive in your team – what are his strategic goals?
Mandy Torrens: Having been with IBTM for over ten years and worked across all the Reed portfolio, Shane is fantastic for this role as he brings experience and passion for the customer, as well as a strong ROI for our customers.
When will you decide on a possible new venue for IBTM World?
We have built strong working relationships with our partners in Barcelona, which we very much value. We look forward to continuing a fruitful relationship for more years to come.
What’s new on the show floor in 2018?
The new Exploratory Zone will offer an interactive experience as exhibitors display the latest technology, including virtual reality, artificial intelligence and facial recognition. Our Knowledge Programme will include three keynote speakers, including Duncan Wardle, one of the creative forces behind The Walt Disney Company, and Dex Torricke-Barton, former Head of Communications at SpaceX, Executive Manager at Facebook, and Executive at Google.
Are there any updates on the hosted buyer programme?
Our Hosted Buyer programme will follow the same format again this year, allowing IBTM to pre-select and qualify hosted buyers. We look at a range of criteria for hosted buyers, including attendance reasoning, decision-making authority, budgets and international meetings organised.

Mandy Torrens is Senior Exhibitions Director at IBTM, part of Reed Exhibitions (RTE), a role she took on in 2015, having been with RTE for 15 years. One of her past jobs is Exhibition Director for IBTM World. Now, she has the responsibility for the portfolio’s trade-show in Asia, IBTM China, as well as overseeing the global marketing, hosted buyer and content teams.
