The Emirate of Dubai benefits greatly financially from the MICE events held at Dubai World Trade Centre last year.

“The latest 2022 Economic Impact Assessment Annual Report estimates DWTC’s total economic output across 63 large-scale events at AED 13 billion (US$3.5 billion), of which a substantive AED 7.4 billion (US$2 billion) was retained within the local economy. These business events hosted, organised and delivered at the venue, welcomed nearly 1.2 million attendees with 40% being international – an impressive 49% YOY increase in foreign participation, emphasising Dubai’s leadership as a global mega-event hub”, says a statement from Visit Dubai’s MICE department.

There are also innovations from the carrier Emirates. Like all other passengers, business travellers now benefit from free Wi-Fi access. The prerequisite is membership of Emirates Skywards. Emirates has invested more than US$ 300 million dollars into onboard connectivity.

Skywards members, whether Blue, Silver, Gold, or Platinum, have free access to app messaging. Additionally, First Class passengers have unlimited free internet if they are Skywards members, enabling them to work online while inflight, as will Silver, Gold and Platinum Skywards members travelling in Business Class. Platinum Skywards members have complimentary internet access in all classes.
