Dubai Reports New Developments in Aviation, Healthcare and Event Infrastructure

Dubai has announced several developments affecting aviation connectivity, healthcare infrastructure and event capacity.

Dubai International Airportt handled 95.2 million passengers in 2025, an increase of 3.1 percent compared with the previous year and the highest annual international passenger volume recorded by any airport. Airport operator Dubai Airports expects traffic to approach 99.5 million passengers in 2026. In parallel, Dubai’s healthcare sector expanded to around 5,800 licensed facilities in 2025, up from 5,340 the year before. The sector includes hospitals, specialised clinics, dental practices and home healthcare centres.

Infrastructure, connectivity and sector growth support Dubai’s meetings industry

In the events sector, DMCC opened The Plaza at Uptown Dubai, a 21,000-square-metre outdoor venue designed to host conferences, concerts and corporate gatherings for up to 4,000 guests. Additional connectivity developments include a new interline agreement between Emirates and Loong Air, providing access to 22 additional destinations in China via Hangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Dubai AI Week will return for a second edition from 6 to 9 April 2026, bringing together government representatives, technology companies and researchers. In aviation, flydubai also announced plans to launch double-daily flights to Bangkok from 15 September 2026, increasing its Thailand network to 28 weekly services.
