Excel London has announced the appointment of James Mark as its new Chief Operating Officer. Mark previously worked at the venue from 2000 to 2016 and played a key role in delivering the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. He returns with more than three decades of experience across the UK’s leading venues, including Earls Court, London Stadium and the Barbican Centre. In his new role, he will oversee all operational departments and contribute strategic leadership as part of Excel’s Executive and Leadership teams.

Experienced venue leader returns to drive operational excellence

Excel London CEO Jeremy Rees highlighted Mark’s extensive industry expertise: “Since rejoining the Excel family earlier this year, James has demonstrated exceptional leadership, strategic insight and operational acumen. This appointment reinforces our commitment to investing in people, our venue and infrastructure as we pursue our goal to become the world’s best event destination.” Supported by Kerrie Kemp, Director of Venue Operations, and Lee Lacey, Facilities Director, Mark will help guide Excel through a strong 2025 calendar. It features major international events such as the World Travel Market, Gartner’s IOCS, and the London International Horse Show, ahead of the venue’s 25th anniversary celebrations later this year.
