The new roles, led by Chief Operating Officer James Mark, cover four core areas: venue assets and infrastructure, operational efficiency, safety and resilience, and customer experience. The changes come amid increased demand and follow the opening of the venue’s 25,000 sqm ICC Expansion, which is scheduled to host 10 major international congresses in 2026. Kerrie Kemp has been appointed Director of Event and Venue Experience, consolidating customer-facing services. Lee Lacey becomes Director of Facilities and Estates, overseeing maintenance and long-term development. Tom Edwards takes on the role of Director of Venue Services, responsible for operational planning and technical delivery. Chris Scott OBE joins as Director of Safety, Security and Resilience, bringing experience from the Ministry of Defence.
Focus on growth, infrastructure and visitor experience
Excel London has invested £350 million in its facilities in recent years and is planning further investment in digital infrastructure, wayfinding and food and beverage services. The expanded leadership structure is intended to support operational coordination and enhance service delivery across all stages of events, as demand continues to grow following the venue’s recent expansion.
