Olympic venue. ADNEC-owned ExCeL London is dressed and ready to host seven Olympic and six Paralympic Games during the London 2012 Games, starting 27 July. The venue is decked with signboards and billboards that welcome athletes and visitors, and promote Abu Dhabi as a destination, including one of the biggest billboards in London.

ExCeL London’s event halls will be fully occupied throughout the Olympic Games. It will host 7 Olympic games (26 per cent of Olympic events overall), in addition to 6 Paralympic games (30 per cent of Paralympic events overall). The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be covered live by 26 TV stations, bringing it to more than 1.5 billion people across the globe.

More than 14,700 athletes from around the world will be participating in the London 2012 Games, of which 2,736 will be competing at ExCeL London. ExCeL London is the second largest venue at the Games, after the Olympic Park.

ADNEC made a £165 million investment into ExCeL London in 2010, which included the expansion of the venue by 100,000sqm. ADNEC has also invested £48 million in building the Aloft London, which has been completely booked for more than three months by the London Local Organising Committee (LOCOG).

H.E. Ali Saeed Bin Harmel, Managing Director of Abu Dhabi National Exhibition commented: “We want to welcome the world as well as participants in the London 2012 Games to ExCeL London. With our warm welcome, we are also promoting Abu Dhabi and demonstrating the enormous development and growth the Emirate has achieved in the past four decades.” He continued: “The implied message is one of Abu Dhabi’s successful investments; four years after acquiring ExCeL London, it is now hosting one of the world’s most important and largest international sporting events.”
