Business Events Adelaide has confirmed that the student engineering competition Formula SAE-A will take place at The Bend in Tailem Bend, attracting more than 1,200 participants annually from Australasia, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan and the Middle East. The event forms the final stage of a year-long university programme in which teams design, build and validate Formula-style race cars, with participants representing multiple engineering disciplines.

Event Expected to Drive Regional Impact and Industry Engagement

Over four days, teams will be assessed on engineering performance as well as project management, innovation and operational execution. The programme includes an employment exhibition featuring companies such as Caterpillar, Ford Australia, Toyota, Tesla Energy and Red Bull, alongside universities and industry organisations. The event is projected to generate AUD 22.6 million for the South Australian economy over five years, with regional areas expected to benefit.
