The global industry association IACC has released its latest Meeting Room of the Future report in partnership with DCI. The annual benchmarking study examines developments across the meetings sector and identifies the factors currently shaping venue investment and operations. According to the findings, venues are increasingly focusing on technology, sustainability and experience design, while continuing to prioritise core elements such as natural light, acoustics and food and beverage offerings.
Technology, Sustainability and Experience Remain Central Priorities
The report shows a significant increase in technology investment, particularly in internet infrastructure and secure client Wi-Fi. At the same time, venue operators report growing demand for dietary accommodation, locally sourced food and sustainable business practices. More than half of surveyed venues also observed declining alcohol consumption among attendees. Experience creation continues to gain importance, with themed food and beverage concepts and team-building activities among the most common offerings. The study further highlights a cautious approach to artificial intelligence adoption and points to an ongoing generational shift within the workforce, as younger employees remain underrepresented in management positions. According to IACC, the findings provide guidance for the future development of meetings and business events over the coming years.
