The event exceeded previous editions in several key metrics, including exhibition space, sponsorship and exhibitor participation. Covering more than 14,000 square metres, the programme featured scientific sessions, live demonstrations, competitions and networking opportunities. Organised following a five-year preparation process led by AIM Austria together with the Technical University of Vienna, the Vienna Convention Bureau and VIECON, the congress also included the public-facing Festival of Robots, which introduced robotics and automation to residents and visitors through free exhibitions and interactive activities across the city.

Congress strengthens Vienna’s position for international science events

Beyond its scientific programme, ICRA 2026 generated economic benefits for Vienna by attracting thousands of international delegates and supporting the city’s hospitality, tourism and service sectors. The social programme included the Imperial Night at the Hofburg Palace and the Spanish Riding School, attended by around 4,800 participants. Sustainability, public engagement and knowledge exchange formed key elements of the congress, reinforcing Vienna’s role as a destination for large-scale international scientific and technology events while highlighting the growing importance of robotics across sectors including healthcare, mobility, manufacturing and education.
