In 1924 the first Great German Radio Exhibition attracted 242 exhibitors and 180,000 visitors on 7,000 sqm; in September 2006 the figure for the Consumer Electronics trade fair was up to 1,202 exhibitors from 40 countries and 245,849 visitors. The seventh exhibition in 1930 was opened by Albert Einstein: “May all those be ashamed who thoughtlessly enjoy the miracles of science and technology without understanding anymore of it than cows do of the botany of the plants they munch with such rapture.” In 1967 Willy Brand switched on the first colour television. www.messe-berlin.de
