Istanbul. The International Destination Expo recently took place in Istanbul hosted by ASTA, the world’s largest travel trade association. It offered more than 1,200 attendees from 18 countries a chance to meet one-on-one with more than 120 suppliers at 141 booths. In total, 17 countries were represented among the exhibitors. Post-tour participants saw, among other sites, the world famous Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace. Having organised this major event, operator Intra Tourism will soon launch a new project named “Green Intra”. Intra Tourism’s founder and CEO, Ertugrul Karaoglu, says this concept would entail putting an emphasis on protecting the environment and keeping ‘green’ considerations in mind, whether in choosing suppliers, in the office or in developing new programmes. Furthermore Intra Tourism is to give educational bursaries to 30 students who wish to work in tourism but could not finance their studies themselves.  This was announced at the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the international operator.
