Jason Tan Chin Foo has been appointed CEO of Business Events Sarawak with immediate effect. The long-serving member of the organisation aims to position the Malaysian region as an internationally competitive business events destination through collaboration and innovation.

Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) has appointed Jason Tan Chin Foo as its new Chief Executive Officer. The manager, who has held various leadership positions within the organisation since 2012, takes on the role with the goal of establishing Sarawak as a globally competitive business events destination.

Focus on Collaboration and Ecosystem Development

Jason Tan Chin Foo emphasises the importance of connecting different stakeholders to advance the destination. “I believe the world’s most impactful business events destinations are built on strong ecosystems and meaningful collaboration among government, industry, academia, associations and the media. That is how ideas and partnerships are transformed into action, creating opportunities that strengthen our economy, communities and future,” said Jason Tan Chin Foo.

The new CEO aims to bring together Sarawak’s existing strengths into a more connected and future-ready business events ecosystem. The focus will be on deepening international partnerships and advancing the goals of the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 through high-impact business events.

Extensive Experience in Destination Development

Since joining BESarawak in 2012, Jason Tan Chin Foo has contributed to Sarawak’s development as a business events destination in various key positions. He has worked in business development, international event bidding, research, marketing and communications, playing a central role in Sarawak’s emergence as one of the leading business events destinations in the Asia Pacific region.

Datu Hii Chang Kee, Deputy State Secretary and Chairman of BESarawak, commented on the appointment: “Jason has consistently demonstrated strategic leadership and a strong commitment to advancing Sarawak’s business events industry. The Board has every confidence that he will build on BESarawak’s strong foundations and achievements.”
