Premiere. ExCeL London opens its doors to the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. This is the first time that ESCMID (European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) has chosen London for its annual congress and delegate registrations indicate it will be the largest attendance in the event’s history. Organised by Congrex Switzerland, approximately 10,000 attendees are expected, making it the biggest medical congress to be hosted in London in 2012, with an estimated economic benefit to the city of £20million. James Rees, Director of Conferences & Events, ExCeL London: “We are extremely proud to welcome both ESCMID and Congrex to London in our landmark Olympic year. ExCeL London’s International Convention Centre was built to host events of this size and stature and we look forward to hosting what should prove to be a record-breaking Congress.”
