A quarterly benchmarking survey of 140 event venues, suppliers, agents, and destinations indicates optimism across the sector, with international events contributing an average of 12 % to revenue forecasts. Despite a 10 % drop from last year, respondents remain confident that a steady flow of enquiries will support continued growth. However, recruitment remains a significant challenge, with 4 8% of businesses finding it “somewhat challenging” and 18% describing it as “very challenging” due to increased competition, limited resources, and high staff turnover.

Industry Outlook and Recruitment Challenges

In response to talent retention issues, over half (53 %) of respondents have implemented improved work-life balance initiatives, while 38 % have enhanced pay and benefits packages. Additional insights include that 33 % of venues currently offer Instant Book services, and 62 % reported challenges related to cancellation policies amid contract disputes. MIA Chief Executive Shonali Devereaux emphasized that these findings will inform the organization’s support strategy, including practical guides and an extensive programme of educational events.
