The Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) successfully organized the Malaysia Business Events Week (MBEW) 2023 in Kuala Lumpur. The six-day event brought together 400 business events professionals and offered them insights through discussions, workshops, forums, and CSR initiatives. The highlight was the launch of the MyTripleE support programme under the Meet in Malaysia campaign, aimed at attracting both regional and international business events while strengthening the domestic market. MyTripleE’s three components—Excel, Elevate, and Enliven—provide financial and non-financial assistance for world-class business events across various market segments.
The MyTripleE programme aims to foster unity, harmony, and cultural elements among Malaysians, while also enhancing governmental business events. Datuk Hajah Saraya Arbi, Interim Chairman of MyCEB, highlighted the program’s comprehensive strategy and its role in addressing industry challenges. By 2030, the goal is to attract 5.9 million delegates, contributing to an estimated RM42.12 billion in economic impact and creating around 25,833 jobs, contingent on government budget allocation.
The event was inaugurated by YBhg. Datuk Zamri Mat Zain on behalf of YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Malaysia. MyCEB’s efforts have secured 149 business events for the year, projected to bring in RM2.4 billion in economic impact and host approximately 494,015 delegates. This shows positive momentum in the recovery of the business events industry.
Francis Teo, President of Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS), praised MyCEB’s initiatives and expressed confidence in the growth of the industry, particularly through programs like MyTripleE. MBEW also featured signature programs such as ‘BE Exchange’, workshops by prominent organizations, and MyCSR initiatives that included blood donation and tree planting activities.
