New Delhi. The 24th Annual General Meeting of the India Convention Promotion Bureau was held at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi, on 31st October 2011. Members across different segments of travel-MICE attended the meeting. Mr. Devesh Chaturvedi, Additional DG Tourism, Ministry of Tourism, who is also the Chairman of the Bureau presided. He congratulated the Bureau for its efforts to emerge India as a competitive MICE destination globally.
The Members were apprised of the activities of the Bureau. Special mention was made about:
- the Market Development Assistance scheme of MOT towards bidding for International Conferences / Conventions, as a booster to the MICE Tourism and also bring more international conferences to the country;
- ICPB’s participation in the Overseas MICE Trade Shows, such as Incentive Travel & Conventions Meetings Asia (IT&CMA), EIBTM at Barcelona, IMEX at Frankfurt and AIME at Melbourne.
Mr. Rajeev Kohli, Vice Chairman gave a blue print on the future perspective while summarizing initiative taken by SKICC in inviting the Board to Srinagar during 29 July-1 August when they had interactive sessions with eminent dignitaries from the Tourism Department including Minister of Tourism and Culture, and MOS Home and Tourism, at SKICC. As a part of the outcome, ICPB would promote Kashmir as a destination for convention tourism.
ICPB signed an Agreement with TTG Asia on 09 September 2011 to bring their flagship show IT&CMA to India as IT&CM India in 2012. This will be a super initiative for Indian MICE and give us tremendous visibility and coverage as a destination as well as a key selling tool for our members. IT & CM India is scheduled for 21-23 August 2012, at New Delhi.
India Convention Promotion Bureau, a sponsored Society by the Ministry of Tourism, comprise of Airlines, leading Hotels and Hotel Chains, Convention Centres, Tour Operators, Travel Agents, Professional Conference Organizers, State Tourism Development Corporations, Surface Transport Companies and other organizations providing ancillary services.
