Prior to her secondment to the NHS, Gaby was Managing Director of Researcher Products at Elsevier where she was responsible for ScienceDirect and Mendeley, global products that help researchers to discover new knowledge, stay up to date, and showcase their work. Previously, she was Elsevier’s Global Director of Strategy and worked on the digital transformation of their Research and Health businesses. Gaby has a first-class degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and in her spare time she plays touch rugby, competing at the World Cup in 2015 and 2019, and in the European Championships in 2017.

Commenting on her appointment, Gaby Appleton said: “Now more than ever the power of combined face-to-face events and digital must come together to reboot and reconnect communities and sectors around the world, driving growth for all.”
