Dallas: New Convention Centre Coming in 2029

The Dallas convention centre expansion is officially a go. Visit Dallas announced the approval of a new 2.5 million-square-foot convention centre.

Visit Dallas has announced the approval of a 2.5 million-square-foot convention centre with 800,000 square feet of exhibit space and 300,000 square feet of breakout areas, including 160,000 square feet of ballroom space.

“This news is a game changer for Dallas and will put our city on the map as the pre-eminent large-city convention and meeting destination in the nation,” said Craig Davis, Visit Dallas President & CEO.

In addition to the expansion, there will be an all-new entertainment experience connecting the convention centre with neighbouring districts, creating a walkable experience that includes restaurants, retail, entertainment and lodging options.

“Dallas is already a great meetings and conventions destination, with the accessibility of two major airports, affordable labour and an outstanding hotel product,” said D. Bradley Kent, Visit Dallas Senior Vice President and Chief Sales Officer. “The expanded centre and Convention Center District will enhance Dallas’ competitive position and are exactly what our customers need and have been asking for.”

Exciting Lodging Developments 

According to Lodging Economics, Dallas leads the nation with nearly 20,000 hotel rooms in the pipeline. There are reportedly 5,000 new rooms currently under construction, plus a selection of boutique hotels and large convention hotels which are currently available. Here are a few examples of Dallas-hotels that are in development:

  • InterContinental Dallas ­– Coming in 2022 
  • Harwood Hotel – Coming in 2022 
  • Four Seasons – Coming 2025
