The Associations Forum National Conference assembled CEOs, presidents and decision-makers from across Australia and the region. The programme addressed key topics including member engagement, leadership, governance, advocacy, event management, education and training, and risk management. A particular focus was placed on the role of technology in improving effectiveness.

Changing member expectations take centre stage

A central theme of the conference was the evolving expectations of members. Delegates discussed how associations can adapt their offerings to remain relevant and responsive. Fatima Sunderji, General Manager of Associations Forum, emphasised: “The National Conference continues to be an important meeting point for the people who support and lead associations. Bringing people together face-to-face creates the opportunity for new ideas and challenges to be shared openly and practical solutions to be developed through the collective.”

Artificial intelligence and networking as key priorities

Delegates examined how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies can support more efficient operations. Alongside the professional sessions, the event offered numerous networking opportunities, allowing attendees to build connections with peers from across the sector. Various social functions at Crowne Plaza Geelong complemented the programme.

Geelong showcased as event destination

The conference showcased Geelong as a premier destination for business events. The new Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre provided a contemporary setting for learning and collaboration. The association and charity sector contributes approximately AUD 43 billion to Australia’s economy through more than 600,000 organisations.
