At its Annual General Meeting on 29 October, Business Events Adelaide reported that 149 future business events were secured for South Australia during the 2024–25 financial year, injecting in excess of AUD 684 million into the state economy. Chair Ian Horne noted the economic and strategic value of the secured events and thanked the State Government for a AUD 10.9 million allocation over four years in the recent Budget. He added that business events deliver sustained economic benefit, calculating that “almost AUD 2 million a day on average flows into the State as a result of business events.”
Delegate spend, partnerships and sustainability lift Adelaide’s profile
Business Events Adelaide CEO Damien Kitto attributed the result to collaboration across government, academia and industry. He highlighted the organisation’s readiness to capitalise on growing international interest, including momentum from Adelaide’s recognition as Most Improved Destination in the Global Destination Sustainability Movement Index and the COP31 host-city nomination. The organisation cites a verified daily delegate spend of AUD 1,165 (SA Centre for Economic Studies). The AGM report notes the broader, long-term returns of business events in research, partnerships and workforce attraction.
