The event, set to take place at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, marks the first time Sarawak will host this prestigious archival conference.
During the closing ceremony of the ICA Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Sarawak’s Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, The Honourable Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, formally accepted the hosting rights. This milestone represents Malaysia’s second time hosting an ICA event and Sarawak’s debut as host destination.
Strong Multi-Agency Collaboration
The successful bid, initiated in 2024, resulted from collaboration between multiple agencies, including the Sarawak State Library and the National Archives of Malaysia. Ten key organizations, from government bodies to universities, supported the bid, demonstrating strong federal and state partnership.
