The conference will take place at the Kingwood Hotel and is organised by the Sarawak Tourist Guides Association in collaboration with the Malaysian Tourist Guides Council, with support from Business Events Sarawak. Following the inaugural edition in 2024, the upcoming event is positioned as a regional platform to address current challenges in the tourist guiding profession and to strengthen cooperation among tourism stakeholders across Southeast Asia.
Conference Focuses on Skills Development and Regional Collaboration
Industry developments such as digitalisation, changing visitor expectations, and workforce shortages are expected to shape the programme. The conference will include professional development sessions and opportunities for knowledge exchange, alongside an outdoor learning component focused on community-based tourism. The initiative aligns with Sarawak’s broader strategy to support sustainable tourism growth and enhance service quality, with tourist guides identified as a key factor in delivering consistent visitor experiences.
