Down Under. Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) has maintained its strong presence in the competitive international marketplace with an impressive run of consecutive convention wins. In the first six weeks of the financial year, the Centre secured four new international meetings across key industry sectors, delivering an additional 2,000 international visitors to Brisbane.
The Centre’s International Team works closely with Brisbane Marketing in securing these major conventions for Brisbane and these recent wins are a clear demonstration of the successful collaborative partnership. World Congress on Conservation Agriculture 2011 (500 delegates), International Congress of Voice Teachers 2013 (400 delegates) and International Conference on Diet Activity & Methods 2015 (500 delegates) are all booked into the Centre’s new boutique meetings venue, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Grey Street, opening 2011, which is specifically designed for meetings of 400 and 600.
Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre General Manager, Robert O’Keeffe said there had been early high demand for the new Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on Grey Street, which he said will provide the expanded Centre with unprecedented flexibility, offering facilities that are the perfect fit for meetings of 400 and 600 as well as being able to accommodate larger events up to 8,000. “The establishment of further world class infrastructure offering great flexibility and choice will heighten the already strong appeal of Brisbane as a major international and regional meetings destination,” Mr O’Keeffe said.
Brisbane Marketing’s Director, Convention Bureau, Annabel Sullivan said the wins provide an opportunity for Brisbane to reinforce its rising status as Australia’s new world city. “We are a place of thought-leaders where ideas and innovation are encouraged and supported by industry and government. Hosting these types of conferences is of great economic benefit to Brisbane and they also provide an opportunity to showcase our city to the rest of Australia and the world. www.bcec.com.au
