Luring conferences. Tallinn City Tourist Office & Convention Bureau and Estonian Convention Bureau have launched an ambassador programme in the country’s capital, Tallinn. Building on a similar project that the ECB successfully implemented in Tartu last year, the programme will recruit local academics and business people to act as partners in attracting international conferences to the city. Workshops planned for next year will show Estonian professors and scientists who are members of international associations how to bring their conferences to Tallinn, and give them information how ECB and TCTO &CB can help them in the process. “We’re looking for ambassadors from all sectors, but what makes the Tallinn programme exciting is that it can tap into the city’s scientific potential and its role as a hotspot for development of ICT solutions,” said ECB’s managing director, Riine Tiigi.
Tiigi also pointed out that thanks to the recent opening of the Solaris Centre, Tallinn can now host events for up to 1,800 people, which adds to the possibilities that the ambassador programme can hold. “Through our conference ambassador programme, we hope to secure a much greater number of world-class conferences for Tallinn in the years to come, said Ms Evelin Tsirk, Head of the Tallinn City Tourist Office & Convention Bureau.
