Munich. Amiando was selected Technology Pioneer 2010 by the World Economic Forum as the only company from Germany. Other award winners include social media companies like Twitter and Playfish.

amiando, the leading online tool for event organization, announced today that it has been selected as a Technology Pioneer 2010 by The World Economic Forum. Candidates for this prestigious award are nominated by the world’s leading technology experts and are judged by a distinguished panel appointed by the World Economic Forum.

Twenty-six companies were selected this year for their accomplishments as innovators and for their development of technologies expected to have a deep impact on global business and society. Technology Pioneers are invited to join the World Economic Forum community and to participate in the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting to be held in Davos, Switzerland in January, 2010.

“Amiando is very proud to be recognized by the World Economic Forum and to be one of the Technology Pioneers 2010.” said Felix Haas, CEO and co-founder of amiando. “We launched our self-service event ticketing services in 2007 with the goal of helping event organizers around the globe to bring their event organization to a level of professionalism formerly only achieved by large corporations and agencies. It’s an incredible honor to be recognized for that vision and the progress we’re making towards that objective.”

The identification of the Technology Pioneer companies is the result of a vigorous selection process for which the Forum received hundreds candidates from around the world, and that were evaluated by 58 global technology experts. The 2010 class covers four continents, with 18 of the 26 companies hailing from the US and the rest from Brazil, Germany, India, Israel, Luxembourg and the United Kingdom. amiando is the only Technology Pioneer 2010 selected from Germany.

Previous Technology Pioneers include Google, Mozilla and Paypal. “This year’s Technology Pioneer award recipients have created an impressive array of technological and entrepreneurial initiatives that offer profound improvements to our collective health, energy efficiency, the environment, and the ways we work and communicate with each other. KPMG congratulates this year’s Technology Pioneers” said Gary Matuszak, KPMG, Global Chair Information, Communications and Entertainment.

“We were truly impressed with the quality, quantity and diversity of the applicants this year, thereby making the selection process the most difficult to date. I would like to congratulate the Technology Pioneers Class of 2010. These companies can be very proud of receiving such a respected and coveted distinction.” said Kevin E. Comolli, Managing General Partner, Accel Partners.
