MPI’s new summer 2016 edition of Meetings Outlook shows meeting and event industry projections remain positive as planners and suppliers adapt and learn to thrive in the evolving seller’s market landscape.
Some of the issues findings are that there has been a 12 percent drop from previous 62 percent in respondents that project positive growth for upcoming live event attendance. Yet, attendance figures, both live and virtual, are expected to grow 1.5 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively. 30 percent of respondents are avoiding destinations with laws prohibiting universal restroom use, while 19 percent try to avoid places with liberal weapon laws. 63 percent of respondents predict good business conditions for the year ahead, and further 27 percent think political elections have a big influence on meetings and events.
