The CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf will be reconstructed. The occasion: the expansion of the convention centre and new building of Hall 1. In addition to the reconstruction, a futuristic-looking redesign of the entrance CCD Süd including a forecourt, and construction of an underground carpark are planned. The design was created by the Düsseldorf architecture firm SOP.
“With the reconstruction and the increased capacity, the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf is equipping itself even better for large conferences and corporate events. The highly modern building and the location on the Rhine and the Nordpark, increase the quality of event participants’ stay,” states Hilmar Guckert, spokesman of the Düsseldorf Congress Sport & Event management board.
One characteristic feature of the construction project is a 20-metre high, 7,800 square-metre projecting roof of translucent fibreglass cloth with LED lighting that covers the entrance CCD Süd, the forecourt, and the new subjacent underground carpark. The existing exhibition halls 1 and 2 will be replaced by a new 12,000 square-metre column-free hall. The 2,100 square-metre foyer will also be usable as exhibition space. The first floor houses six conference rooms, which are on the same level as and connected with the event floor of the CCD Congress Center Düsseldorf via a glass passageway. Each of the conference rooms has a 200 square-metre footprint and can be divided into two rooms of equal size with mobile partitions. In addition to the projected roof, further modifications are planned for the forecourt to the main entrance, like two passageways to the Nordpark.
