On 3 and 4 April 2017, the European Coatings Show Conference took place at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg with a programme offering a comprehensive overview of the latest research findings. In 24 sessions at the two-day European Coatings Show Conference, renowned international experts from the scientific and R&D communities discussed the current status in their respective fields. In a total of 144 presentations, they provided information about topics such as pigments, water-based coatings, surface active agents, functional, antimicrobial and bio-based coatings, 2K industrial coatings, radiation curing and new materials. A highlight of the European Coatings Show Conference was the Plenary Session presentation by Renaud Nicolaÿ from ESPCI (École Supérieure de Physiques et de Chimie Industrielles de la Ville de Paris), who discussed covalent bonds and their potential applications for new coating properties. Also in the Plenary Session, the best conference presentation was acknowledged with the European Coatings Show Award. On the day before the European Coatings Show Conference, ten pre-conference tutorials offered expertise on issues relating to coatings development and application.
In seven exhibition halls, from 4 to 6 April, participating companies provided information about all components for manufacturing paints, coatings, adhesives, sealants, additives, printing inks and construction chemicals at the European Coatings Show. In addition to raw materials and services, discussions at the exhibition stands also revolved around testing, measuring, laboratory and production technology in the two halls devoted to this thematic focus. Companies from 40 nations showcased their products and services. There was a large international contingent among the participating exhibitors. Following Germany with 363 exhibitors, the list of exhibitors was topped by China with 204, Italy with 74 and the Netherlands with 65.
