The European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) and the Geneva Convention Bureau have officially announced that Velo-city 2028, the world’s leading conference on cycling planning and advocacy, will take place in Geneva. The Swiss city impressed with its strong commitment to sustainable mobility and international cooperation, earning the right to host the prestigious event after a competitive selection process.
Velo-city 2028 to Highlight Cross-Border Cycling Solutions
Under the theme “Beyond Borders,” Velo-city 2028 will bring together cycling experts, policymakers, and advocates from around the globe to discuss the future of urban mobility. Geneva’s existing infrastructure – including over 60% of roads adapted for cycling – and its ambitious 2024–2028 Active Mobility Action Plan make it a fitting host. The event will also showcase transnational efforts like the Greater Geneva initiative and the Léman Express rail network, aimed at tripling cycling’s modal share by 2050. Organisers, including K.I.T. Group Switzerland and local cycling advocates, promise a high-impact conference that strengthens Geneva’s role as a sustainable mobility leader.
