John Burke, General Manager of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, has been appointed to the 2025 Board of Directors of the International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC). The AIPC is a global network of convention and exhibition centre managers, representing over 190 venues in more than 55 countries. The Board is responsible for setting the association’s strategic direction and developing policies that support its international membership.

Strategic Role to Advance Regional and Global Convention Standards

As a Board member, Burke will work alongside representatives from other international venues, including the SwissTech Convention Center and the Cape Town International Convention Centre. His appointment coincides with Malaysia’s business events development strategy, which includes targets set by the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) to increase delegate numbers and economic contribution by 2030. The position provides an additional channel for regional input into the association’s activities and decision-making processes.
