Seattle. Destination Marketing Association International’s (DMAI) 2012 Annual Convention had a record breaking year, attracting more than 1300 individuals to Seattle, Washington July 16-18, a number that includes the most DMO attendees in the association’s history. Attendees came from 13 countries to take part in a record-breaking number of education sessions as well as hours of peer-to-peer idea sharing. Content relevancy and strong attendance also drove an increase in industry supplier investment, with 120 DMO industry providers organizations participating, a 20% increase, which includes 33 first-time exhibitors. The Business Exchange is the exclusive tradeshow showcasing DMAI Allied Members, which are vendors and suppliers dedicated to serving the destination marketing community, and a growing part of DMAI’s membership base.

Themed “Local Passion. Global Impact.” the convention is a one-stop-shop for educational seminars, product familiarization and networking. “We looked in and out of our industry for experts offering fresh and innovative insights on today’s most impactful trends and issues,” said Michael D. Gehrisch, DMAI President & CEO. “Enabling prospective attendees and industry thought leaders to submit proposals for potential education sessions produced not only exceptionally relevant education but also revealed critical trends impacting the destination marketing industry.”
